Please advice for my first trip to switzerland with family (2 adults and 4 kids 13,11,8,6)

we will be arriving from Paris to Zurich on 29th July by train (need advice for best train option)

29-31 July Zurich require 2-interconnecting room on the lake near Bahnhoffstrasse for 2 nights

thinking to take SUV/Mini van on rent for next 5 days

31st July Lucerne and mt. Titlis, overnight stay at Lucerne

1st August Interlaken, require 2-interconnecting room on the lake for 5 nights (advice)

from Interlaken day trips to Jungfraujoch, Zermatt, etc. (other places to explore from interlaken)

question: renting a car is good option or train is better?

Hi Khawer, and welcome to MySwissAlps!

There are many trains from Paris to Zurich. You can find the one that suits you in the timetable. Tickets can be found here.

You can rent a car but I would not recommend that. The train system is excellent, and many places in the mountains can’t be reached by car anyway (Zermatt and Jungfraujoch for example). City centers are not very pleasant to go to with a car, in terms of finding your way around, and finding a place to park. You did not list places to visit that require a car. You can learn more about the trains through myswissalps.com/train.

Interlaken is not on a lake, but there’s the river Aare. Hotel Central Continental would be an option if you prefer a river view. More hotels are listed here, and hotels in Zurich are listed here.
