Hi All, I travel from South Africa to Zurich on 21 December, stay in Zurich for 3 days then travel to Wengen over Christmas and finally from Wengen to Locarno for 3 days whereafter we depart for Zurich and back to South Africa. Please advise on the best routes to follow by rail, for the very best scenic experience?

Hi Yvette,

The main scenic trains and all you need to know about them can be found here: www.myswissalps.com/activities/scenictrips/train.

Tips for how to plan are here: www.myswissalps.com/plantrip

My preferred route would be: Zurich - Luzern to Interlaken (Golden Pass) - Wengen. Wengen - Interlaken - Spiez - Kandersteg - Brig - Domodossola to Locarno (Centovalli railway). Locarno to Luzern (Wilhelm Tell Express route) - urich.

A Swiss Flexi Pass is worth looking into. Have fun!
