We are staying in Spiez in August (7 days) and would appreciate any inputs to which would be the best option for us to explore which will not break the bank.
Is it worth getting the Bernese Oberland or Swiss Travel Pass? We were thinking of a 3 day non stop exploration and the rest of the remaining days a bit slower and near our base (Spiez)
Does anyone have any best places to visit too?

You can’t tell which pass, if any, is the “best” until you make a list of each trip (train, boat, gondola, etc) you plan to make and figure what the total cost is using regular tickets, or any of the passes. You then compare them to choose the best deal. There’s a page at this site that presents a spreadsheet for you to do the calculations. The link is:

In addition, you can make day trips to Thun (https://www.myswissalps.com/thun), Bern (https://www.myswissalps.com/bern) and even Zermatt (https://www.myswissalps.com/zermatt).
Once your plans are more or less finalized, you can check which rail pass is best as explained by pvonk. The Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland and the Swiss Travel Pass might indeed be good options to compare. You can start checking details here:
