Best route from Varenna Lake Como to Interlaken

I’m debating whether to return to Milan and train north to Interlaken or to ferry across Lake Como to Menaggio and bus to Lugano then train north.

Or, another option.

It really depends on what your goal is: quickest trip, or most scenic? Does time matter at all or could you even take more than one day for the transfer?
