Boat trip on Lucerne lake to Mt. Rigi

Hi,

I plan to take a boat from Lucerne to Vitzanau. From Vitzanau, i will plan to take a Cogwheel train to Rigi Kulm.

From Rigi Kulm i plan to take a cogwheel train to Arth Goldau and from Arth Goldau train to Lucerne.

Kindly let me know what are the timing of boat and cogwheel train. I tried to see the time table at the respective sites but it is very confusing. Also, do we require seat reservation in cogwheel and boat? Kindly help.

Also, what are the timings for Montreux to Lucerne - Golden pass train? do we need seat reservation i it?

These two are totally free if i hold Swiss travel pass. Kindly confirm.

Yes, the trips you mention are for free with a Swiss Travel Pass. Seat reservations are not required, unless you'd want to travel in a special VIP seat on the Golden Pass.

Just enter the leg you're searching for, e.g. "Rigi Kulm" to "Arth-Goldau" and your travel date, and you'll see all options. Clicking the "plus" symbol at the left of each connection will get you even more details. Here are some further tips:

• if you want to find Golden Pass connections between Montreux and Lucerne, use the "Advance search" option and enter "Zweisimmen" and "Interlaken Ost" or "Meiringen" as via stations. Otherwise the timetable comes up with the quickest connections by default, which are different from the Golden Pass route;
• if you want to see boat trips, e.g. from Lucerne to Vitznau (mind the right spelling), enter this trip and then use the "Advance search" option to select "Ship" as your preferred mode of traveling.
