My son will be staying in Chur for 2 months from January 2023. Does anyone know if the season ski pass covers travel on buses from Chur to Laax. If not can anyone let me know if you can buy a bus pass for travel and what cost it might be. Also can you access Laax ski area by train from Chur? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Storm, thanks for joining MySwissalps!

Laax can only be reached by bus. There are direct buses from Chur, or connections by train to Ilanz and then a bus to Laax. You'll find all options in the Swiss timetable. This page explains how it works and how to find all the options for your son's journeys: https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.

As for the skipass: are you referring to the Skipass Surselva? In that case: no, the route from Chur to Laax doesn't seem to be included. You can download the flyer from www.obersaxen-mundaun.ch/skipass-surselva-22-23/.

If your son only needs one ticket Chur-Laax, a bus pass or any other kind of transport pass isn't necessary. A normal one-way ticket costs CHF 16.40 (see the sections about finding prices at https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable). If more journeys with public transport are involved, it might make sense to look into other options such as a Saver Day Pass (https://www.myswissalps.com/saverdaypass) and/or a Swiss Half Fare Card (https://www.myswissalps.com/swisshalffarecard).

All about tickets and passes can be found at https://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses. This page explains how to find the cheapest option for your son's plans: https://www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass.

Does this get you started?
