We plan to get Swiss half fare pass and regional-pass Bernese Oberland for our upcoming trip. Are these passes available for purchase at Zurich Airport? I know that Swiss half fare pass do not sell out, how about Regional-pass Bernese Oberland? It seems like Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland is not refundable so we are wary of buying too early in case something happen and we couldn’t make the trip to Switzerland. We will be travelling to other countries before coming to Switzerland, so we won’t be able to print out at home if we were to buy closer to our arrival in Switzerland.

Hi Autumn dew,

Yes, you can buy the passes at the airport during opening hours of the ticket office. They do not sell out. I wouldn’t worry about printing. A printout is a nice backup, but many travelers just have a copy on their phone. If you want a print, the hotel reception can do that for you. One of the advantages of digital passes is that you can’t lose them as you’ll always have a digital backup. A paper pass purchased from a train station is not replaceable. Another advantage is that you don’t lose time on arrival and can board the first available train right away.

Thanks for your reply! Glad to know that they do not sell out and there is no need for paper print out. In that case we will just buy the passes online 1-2 days before we arrive in Switzerland!

Hi!

Sorry just to confirm one more thing. If we get a free family card for our 6 year old child when we purchase Swiss Half Fare Card, travelling will be free for her and there is no need for us to get the child Regional-Pass Bernese Oberland at CHF30.
