    Hi,

we will be traveling to switzerland in end sep22. We will be traveling by car. Thinking of getting the half care card as well.

Itinerary intend to cover mount rigi, jungfraujoch, matterhorn.

Comparing the travel pass price options with your excel. It is really helpful. However, am not sure the Train fare quoted in SBB covers for eiger express? Presumably no?

If that is the case, should i set the commune point from grindelwald terminal to eigerglestscher station instead of jungfraujoch? Then add up the price for eiger express?

Was thinking to travel by car and park at grindelwald terminal.

    Appreciate for your advice.

Hi Janelle9864, thanks for joining MySwissAlps!

The timetable should display prices for the Eiger Express too. You can use the below pages to find prices:

It’s a good idea to get a Swiss Half Fare Card for a trip that combines car and public (mountain) transportation:

As for driving in Switzerland: if you’re not familiar with that, I advise you to read the information at https://www.myswissalps.com/car. Swiss public transportation is excellent and gets you to all pretty spots. Note that some regions and towns on your wish list are car-free, e.g. part of the Jungfrau area (https://www.myswissalps.com/jungfrauregion) and Zermatt (https://www.myswissalps.com/zermatt). This comparison could be helfpul: https://www.myswissalps.com/carversustrain.

If you do travel by car, you can consider parking it in Interlaken instead of Grindelwald. That way you can make a round trip to Jungfraujoch, for example by getting up via Lauterbrunnen-Wengen and down via the Eiger Express to Grindelwald. It will be a more diverse trip that way.

This is indeed a very informative response.

    Really appreciate it.

As we intend to cover for glacier canyon grindelwald, hence, thinking of driving to grindelwald terminal and park there. Once we are done from jungfraujoch, we could drive up to canyon walk.

Is this canyon walk worth visiting ? Does the half fare card offer any discount on the glacier canyon entrance fees?

    Hi Janelle9684,

The Glacier Canyon in Grindelwald is a nice outing if you’re in the area. My kids enjoyed the illumination and the huge so-called spiderweb installation inside the canyon. We combined a visit to the canyon with a trip to Pfingstegg. Admission to the canyon is roughly CHF19 for adults. You get a small discount with the Grindelwald Guest Card but no discounts with the Swiss Half Fare Card.

    Regards,

    Anna
