    Hello everyone

Is there a fare difference to purchase a city to city train tickets now via online than buying it directly in the train station on the day of travel? We need train tickets from Basel to Lucerne, Lucerne to Zurich and Zurich to Basel. I am also worried to get the wrong ticket and usually these tickets are ‘non-refundable’ that is why we’re having second thoughts to booked it in advance.

Looking forward for all your suggestions you guys.

    Many thanks

    Bern

    Hi Bern,

No typically the fares are the same online or at the station. There are two options when buying a ticket. One would be from train station to train station and the other city to city (this one includes public transit in the city on your day of arrival/departure so is usually 5-7chf more.

These tickets are valid on any train that day but yes are non-refundable. If you won’t know whether you are traveling to certain city until the day of departure then I would buy it at the train station.

The other option is to book Supersaver tickets which can save you some money on the trip but locks you into both the date and a specific time.
