Hello All,

I am going to travel from Milano to Luzern on 3/18, usually there are trains connected but unfortunately (I checked with SBB support team) there will be construction work on Luzern station on that station. From SBB website, I see they suggest taking connecting bus either in Rotkreuz or Altdorf. But as this is my first time to travel Switzerland, I am afraid it will cause me some trouble on taking local bus given I would be carrying luggage.

Would you guys have other suggestion getting to Luzern during the construction work?

There is a major project to modify the entry tracks to Luzern station. This will entail construction works closures at various times over the next few years. The narrow gauge line from Interlaken to Luzern is not affected so the only way to avoid a bus would be to travel Milan - Spiez - Interlaken - Luzern (minimum 2 changes of train needed).

You should not worry about bus connections. They are always very efficient in Switzerland, and the operators will be expecting to cater for people with large luggage

Hi eddiec and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!

At www.myswissalps.com/bus you can read about traveling by bus in Switzerland. If you are worried about your luggage, please check this one: www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/luggage.

If there are construction works and you have to use a bus, you can take your luggage with you also to the bus. Buses have also a place for your luggage.

I hope this helps. I would like to recommend one more link: www.myswissalps.com/train/practical/howtotravel. This is about how to travel by train in Switzerland, you might find it useful.

Take care,

Ildiko
