A special 'Oberalp Openair Express' will make the trip across the Oberalp Pass between June 28 and August 31, 2014. The train has one open air carriage and one beautiful Belle Epoque carriage where one can sit inside if it's too cold outside. There will be one daily ride from Andermatt to Disentis and one from Disentis to Andermatt. The Oberalp Pass railway is part of the Glacier Express route.

You need a rail pass or a regular point to point ticket (single trip: CHF 20) for the ride. So with Swiss Pass, for example, the ride is free. With a Swiss Half Fare Card, you will get a 50% discount. Additionally, you need a seat reservation which costs CHF 10.

This train offers a perfect opportunity for those who want to cover the Glacier Express route by the regular local trains. Here's what the trip would look like when traveling from Zermatt to St. Moritz:

Zermatt dep. 8:39
Brig arr. 10:03

Brig dep. 10:23
Andermatt arr. 12:20

Andermatt dep. 12:27 (Oberalp Openair Express)
Disentis arr. 13:36

Disentis dep. 13:44
Reichenau-Tamins arr. 14:48

Reichenau-Tamins dep. 15:08
St. Moritz arr. 16:58
