Hi and thank you for all the great info on your site!

I was planning on buying an 8 day Swiss travel pass starting in Zurich with our last stop in Lausanne before going to Paris. While researching TGV Lausanne to Paris, I saw an old post that stated there is or was, a discount for Swiss Travel Pass holders. Is this still true? If so, how can I find the fare on the site? Is it recommended to buy in advance?

Any other recommendations would be appreciated. We plan to spend most of our time in the Berner-Oberland. We leave in 3 weeks!!

Hi Donna,

The Swiss Travel Pass includes free traveling to the border (e.g. Geneva or Vallorbe), but no discounts on trips outside of Switzerland. You can buy a ticket to Paris from the border here: http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/france – the further ahead you buy the better the price usually.

With the Swiss Travel Pass, I think it is easiest to order it online: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/price

You can have it emailed to you and show it to the train staff from your phone. You need to also print a copy just in case as that is what is officially asked for.

Thank you for the information! Another question occurred to me. I saw pics of a friend on a walkway on a cliff side but can’t find much info. What is this walkway, is it near Grindelwald and is it covered on the Swiss Travel Pass if cost?
