This is our planned train schedule. Departing Basel and arriving in Lausanne. Question: Are 6 and 5 minutes really enough time to change trains at Spiez and at Zweisimmen? Train schedule is as follows:

    7:59 DepartBasel SBB

    9:32 Arr Spiez GoldenPass

    9:38 Depart (TRAIN No. 4065) (6 – 2nd Class Reserved Seats: 21,22,23,24, 26 & 28)

    10:20 Arr Zweisimman GoldenPass

    10:25 Depart (TRAIN No. 2115) (6 – 1st Class Reserved Seats: 21/22, 31/32, & 41/42)

    12:13 Arr Montreaux

12:20 Depart (Possible to jump off and visit Chillon Castle, instead of going directly to Lausanne. need to keep track of the time to ensure enough time to visit Olympic Museum in Lausanne.)

    12:43 ArrLausanne

Yes, it’s enough time. The SBB timetable only shows connections that are doable. The have designed it with Swiss precision. Check the timetable so you know what platform you arrive and depart from so you know where to go.

This is a major tourist route. Thousands of people do this daily.

At Zweisimmen you just have to walk from one side of the platform to the other. They won’t leave you behind.

    Hello Kona,

Confirming Rockoyster’s information that only connections that are actually do-able appear in the timetable when planning.

You can always already wait by the door when the train pulls in to the station to be among the first passengers disembarking, and if time is short, you simply board the departing train anywhere and find your carriage by walking to it inside the train.

You’ll be fine, enjoy your trip.

    Best,
    Steph

    Hi Steph,

I’ll be doing the exact same connection at Zweisimmen in September. So you’d better be right! 😉

    Hello there Rockoyster.. 🙂

I hope we are BOTH right..! If you need support let me know and I’ll come to the train station just for you and guide you, resp. stand on the door of the departing train until you’re safely on board, is that an offer?! 😉

    Cheers and take care,
    Steph

    Steph and rockoyster,

    im counting on you both!

Traveling on November 28 …. all 6 of us. We definitely don’t want to miss the connections at Spiez or Zweisimmen …… Can either or both of you can hold up the train (stand on the door of the departing train) for 6 seniors from Hawaii? We’re not used to cold winters or trains…….. no trains in Hawaii. Aloha 😇.

    Aloha Kona,

You’ll be fine. Steph has connections. She’ll fix it. But if you are really worried you can catch the Belle Époque (Classic) from Zweisimmen at 11:05.

The bad news is Chillon Castle is not between Montreux and Lausanne. It’s the other direction. Just noticed your mention of Chillon in your original post.

We will stand at the door as we arrive in Spiez and Zweisimmen. Thank you for the information.
