Hi ,

Im looking at coming to Switzerland via Madrid, will Fly into Geneva, train to Lucerne ( thinking of basing ourselves there),wanting to do a day trip to Interlaken/Grindelwald, a day trip to Jungfraujoch and a trip to Zermatt so my question is , will a Global Eurorail pass do all this travel ( we are using trains in other european countries so trying to work out if it will cover what we want to do in Switzerland as well or do we need to get the Swiss pass.

regards

Sandi

Hi Sandi and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

The Swiss Travel Pass offers more benefits than the Eurail Global Pass in Switzerland.

Based on your personal itinerary you should read “How to choose the best travel pass” (www.myswissalps.com/train/ticketspasses/practical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math. The spreadsheet also includes links to the “Where it's valid" page for all available passes. Be sure to check those pages for each pass you are considering. Study the map AND read all the text on those pages to fully understand what is covered by the respective pass.

For checking timetables see www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/checking-train-timetables.

Hi Sandy64,

You can find more information about where the Eurail Global is valid in Switzerland here: www.myswissalps.com/eurailglobalpass/validity, and for the Swiss Travel Pass here: www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass/validity.

Be sure to download the validity map. As what I can see, the Eurail Global Pass allows you free passage to Lucerne, Interlaken and Zermatt. From Interlaken to Grindelwald and Jungfraujoch 25% discount.

Please plan your journeys using the timetable: www.myswissalps.com/timetable
