Hi Everyone!

My family and I will be in Switzerland in June for the first time and will be based in Zurich for 6 nights to visit my brother who moved there recently. I've done a lot of research on the various types of tickets and checked out the SBB website to see how much individual trips would cost and think the Swiss travel pass or travel pass flexi is the best option...but I'm looking for confirmation that I'm not missing any alternative passes that might be better?

This is the itinerary/wish list which would have to be daytrips from Zurich (it's a lot of traveling, so we may not get everywhere):

Zurich, Lucerne (and Mt Pilatus if the weather is clear), Geneva, Interlaken/Murren (+ Schilthorn if we don't go to Mt Pilatus) and Bern.

I was thinking the 4 day swiss travel pass flexi would be best along with the Zurich card for those days we aren't traveling out from the city?

Any comments/advice to see if I'm on the right track would be great - and thank you so much in advance :)

Welcome Shataru, and thanks for your post!

Indeed you seem to have planned quite some traveling. It looks like you've already found the most obvious options. Now it's a matter of comparing the costs, and the only way to do so is to do the math. Our spreadsheet will help you with that.

In most cases, people find the combination of the Swiss Travel Pass Flex and other tickets/passes too expensive, and an 8-day Swiss Travel Pass works out cheaper, and more convenient too. Note that the Swiss Travel Pass also includes boats, transport in the city (trams, etc.) and most museums, so it would work in and around Zurich as well. See the links for more details please.

Thanks Arno!

This is super helpful and I'm really glad that it looks like I'm on the right track. I'll continue on with the maths calculations to see what works out cheaper. I hadn't considered the 8 day pass since we are only there for 6, but I'll certainly look into that now.

Thanks again! :)
