Hi. We are travelling as a family of 5 with 3 children ages 6-12. We have booked our accomodation at Wengen (for April 2019) where we will be for 3 days. On Day 4 morning, we were planning to set out by train so that on Day 5 morning, we can catch the Bernina Express onward to Tirano.

My question is around the Day 4 timetable and where we should spend the night to break the journey from Wengen/Interlaken to the Bernina journey to Tirano.

I was thinking of spending the night in Chur with Day 4 being a long day on trains with lunch break at Zurich. Day 5 will be another long train journey to Tirano and then Milan.

Is that too much? Open to opinions and feedback.

Chur makes the most sense for sure. I didn’t find it too exciting a town but only spent a few hours there once. I’d probably do a lunch etc in either Zurich or St Gallen for a few hours to explore before carrying on to Chur in the late afternoon.

Chur is one of, if not the, oldest towns in Switzerland though, so it does have some history to explore and you may find it interesting. Try the links below:
