Hi George,
You will need a regular point to point ticket http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/switzerland
However, if you’re ok with the restrictions of a Saver Day Pass that might be the much cheaper option for you: http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass
For the Swiss Half Fare Card, you can buy it from one of the retailers here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard/price
As long as your card is valid from the start of your trip, the order of purchase does not matter.
All the best on your travels!!

Hi Rahul,
No you don’t need to if travelling between Zermatt and St Moritz as can be viewed here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity
The reason George needs to buy a ticket is because he has a Half Fare Card instead of a Swiss Travel Pass. http://www.myswissalps.com/gl acierexpress/tickets

Thanks for your help, I think I’ve figured it out.
It all seems a bit confusing! The Saver Day Pass will save us a little bit of money, especially as we are doing a short trip to Chur in the morning.
To me, the Glacier Express seems like a tourist attraction so its hard to notice that it is still a train and you can still buy tickets on the usual outlets. I would have not guessed that the Saver Day Pass etc would work on the Glacier Express for that reason but I’m glad it does.
Danke, Merci

Hello, Hallo, Bonjour george570,
As you say, the Saver Day Pass would allow you to travel on the Glacier Express (not covering reservation, though)
