Glacier Express in September – will I see snow?
-
I plan a glacier express in September. Is there any snow left by then or is it mainly a “non snow”scene?

Hello Norb and Welcome to MySwissAlps,
It is unlikely you will see much snow apart from on the top of the highest peaks in the distance. You certainly won’t see any glaciers, despite the train’s name. 😉
Here’s a trip report from September last year. It doesn’t cover the Glacier Express but gives you a general idea of the amount of snow about.
What does your itinerary look like?
Thanks for your SWIFT reply. Your BEAUTIFUL pictures tell me everything I need to know. Happy Travels.
Wow rockoyster you have just confirmed a bit more of our itinerary for September this year. We have 4 days in Interlaken and will take a Regional Pass Bernese Oberland 4 day pass. The Brienz steam train looked good and also the caves. And I think the Lake Brienz cruise instead of Lake Thun might be a good option. And I saw there is a zoo so that will be interesting. Cheers

oh well. ;-(
It seems that you did a good job of meeting the customers needs. 😉

Hi Norb,
perhaps you’ll see snow just from far away, on the mountain tops. You can read about the Glacier Express route at http://www.myswissalps.com/glacierexpress/gettingthere.
