    Dear travelers,

To support the Global Climate Strike (globalclimatestrike.ne t), our forum moderators will not work on 20 September 2019. All posts will be answered the next day. The forum does not close. Everyone can post, it’s just the moderators who go silent for one day to support this cause. This includes e-mail and social media.

Climate change is an unparalleled threat to nature, humanity and our economy. The effects of global warming are no longer a prediction, they are happening right now all around the world. Switzerland is no exception. Melting glaciers, hot summers, problems with drought, a lack of snow and heavy precipitation are more common nowadays. The latest Swiss glacier that disappeared was the Pizol glacier: http://www.srf.ch/kultur/wiss en/zu-klein-fuer-die-vermessung-abschied-vom-pizolgletscher. The evidence of man made climate change is overwhelming. It’s clear what needs to be done. It’s also clear that problems will get bigger rapidly if we stay in denial or if we are too slow making actual changes.

A strike won’t save our climate. We support this strike to make a statement. It will, hopefully, help to increase awareness and change our behavior. We’re in the travel industry, so we have a responsibility. Modern travelers explore the world in a climate friendly manner. It’s not hard, and it’s not expensive. Concrete steps that we have implemented can be found here, under “We care for the planet”: http://www.myswissalps.com/ab outus.

Don’t stay at home. Travel and explore, but do it climate neutral! http://www.myswissalps.com/ab outswitzerland/nature/ environment/help
