    Hi All

We are planning to travel from Luzerne to Saanen via the Golden Pass line in mid May. We will be getting the Swiss Travel Pass for the dates as well. Do we need to get reservation for the route? Is the process to board the Golden Pass Line trains same as any other train with STP? Or we need to get tickets prior?

No, you don’t need a reservation – you can just board the train with your Swiss Travel Pass.

In order to find trains that follow the Golden Pass route all the way from Luzern to Saanen, put “Meiringen” in the “via” field in the SBB (Swiss Railways) timetable. Otherwise most of the connections the timetable will bring up will route you via Bern, which is a less scenic route.

    Hi Bmalini,

As Alpenrose666 mentioned, you do not need reservations on this route. I might recommend it however, especially if you are taking the panoramic trains on this route (standard trains also travel the same route).

For more information on the Golden Pass panoramic train click here. There is also a link on the “ticket tab” (at the bottom of the page) so you can make the reservations if you want.
