Hello! This has been a wonderful forum for information for our trip. Just wandering if the hike from Grutschalp to Murren would be open around May7-10 this year? Also wandering if trail from Mannlichen to Scheidegg would be open also at that time?

Probably. May be muddy.

Almost certainly not.
Check webcams and local tourist offices, for example, in Lauterbrunnen or Wengen.

Hi Garberco,
I wouldn’t count on Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg will be open because it is snowing as low as 1000 meter in Switzerland at the moment. That trail is well above that. There is snow in Mürren too right now but that might be gone when you get there.

When you say muddy, Does it mean more risk of slipping or falling, or only the risk of being wet and dirty?
Is the hiking recommended in this muddy status?

At that time of year, at that altitude, at 1500 to 1600 meters +/- the short answer is “I don’t know.”

I can say that the trail is generally not close to the cliff edge, and, when it is, as shown on this map, the railway is between the trail and the cliff edge:
It is generally an easy and mildly uphill walk, but the surface will not always be smooth.
I can’t and don’t “recommend” based on unknown conditions, and it is not possible to predict accurately for that date and altitude..
I’ll say that I , personally, would plan on making it, with good boots and a hiking staff:

But, I’d have a contingency plan.
On the valley floor, at about 800 to 900 meters, the walk from Lauterbrunnnen to Stechelberg will be a very good bet. That would be my contingency plan.
The attached image shows that valley floor in late June. The walk discused is above the cliffs on the right.
I’d ask about trail conditions at the tourist info office or from the staff inside the train station office in Lauterbrunnen.

By the way – The restaurant at Winteregg- great views – is open from May 3 through the summer:
Getting to Winteregg-Mürren
With the Bernese Oberland Railways or by car to Lauterbrunnen (car park at the train station / valley station). By cable car to Grütschalp. Change to the Lauterbrunnen-Mürren mountain railway (BLM) to Winteregg. Travel time from Lauterbrunnen: 11 minutes.

Thanks. It s a good travel souvenir; never fails to bring back good memories.
It is rarely that clear, so one does not always see clearly to the back of the valley..
You get glimpse of that view for a few seconds on the right as the train from Lauterbrunnen is approaching the station in Wengen. The view from the Hotel Bellevue is essentially identical, since the hotel is a few tens of meters above the location where I took the picture. There is church near that end of town which also has a nice place to get a similar view.
