If I purchase a round trip ticket to Jungfrauloch from Wengen, can I get off at Eigergletscher on my way back down from Jungfrauloch? I would like to hike down the Eiger Trail to Alpiglen and was wondering if I can then get back on a train with my same round trip ticket to continue back to Wengen?

Hello SteveP and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

I a word, no. Well, more accurately, you can certainly get off the train and do the hike but you would need a ticket from Alpiglen back to Kleine Scheidegg where you could resume your return trip to Wengen.

    Hello SteveP,

As stated by Rockoyster there would be a part of the train ride (Alpiglen back to Kleine Scheidegg) that would NOT be covered by a standard roundtrip ticket. However, there is a “Eiger Trail Hiking Ticket”, that should allow you to cover this part, or you simply buy a single journey on your way back.

Find details on the above mentioned ticket, etc. on the Jungfrau webpage, to be found in “more on other websites” section of this link:

Also check below links about the routing, as there is construction work at the moment:

Thank you Steph and rockoyster! I found this link, but am unable to determine the train fare from Alpiglen to Kleine Scheidegg. Also, do you know if the Alpiglen to Kleine Scheidegg train honors the 25% Swiss Travel Pass discount?

    Hi SteveP!

Yes, the 25% discount also counts for Alpiglen-Kleine Scheidegg. Did you find our link under “More information” at http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfraujoch/tickets to this price overview: http://www.jungfrau.ch/filead min/Prospekte_und_Bros chueren/Jungfraubahnen _Fahrpreise_Preisliste .pdf? Under the header “Kleine Scheidegg”, it displays fares from and to Alpiglen. Note that you’ll also find fares using the timetable http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable. Make sure to read the instructions at that page first, as the timetable shows 50% discounted fares by default.

Thank you Annika! I had looked at the price overview you mentoned and saw Alpiglen listed several places, but I failed to scroll down far enough. I see the Kleine Scheidegg section now.
