    Hi Lucas and 1960man,

The captioned thread has been closed since 9 July 2018 due to ‘no new replies’.

However, I’m pleased to let you know that the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn has sent me a response email today expressing her appreciation to my feedback email delivered on 24 June 2018 in respect of the missing 18.52 train to Gornergrat from Rotenboden Station. For sharing purpose, I quoted the paragraphs of explanations from the response email as in the following:

On Saturday 23.06.2018, the train 269 (18.24 clock) from Zermatt had shortly before Findelbach problems with the brake system and could not continue. By the incident, it was not possible to continue and fell through the train 269th / 270 from Zermatt – Gornergrat – Zermatt.

Our specialists were called up and had to tow the vehicle, which took a long time.

At the station Rotenboden there is a waiting room and an information column where the guests can inform themselves directly with the operations control center GGB.

Though I completed the ten day trip in Switzerland one month ago, I still love to maintain the connection with this FORUM so I can plan an even better trip to Switzerland some years later.

    Best regards,

    Gordon MAK

    HI Gordon,

Thanks for getting back to us with an update. I kind of thought it must have been mechanical.

Thanks for the compliments – I hope we can help you out on your next trip to Switzerland!

Glad to hear you got a reply.

I was fairly certain it could only have been a technical problem.

Even ‘perfect’ Swiss railways are mechanical objects…
