I will be staying in Zermatt on 8th July and wish to see the Altesch glacier. Is it practical to travel with family from zermatt to Muosfluh to see the glacier. I will be returning back to zermatt by evening.

It's about a 2h30 (single) trip from Zermatt, so if you don't mind a somewhat longer travel day this can certainly be done. The timetable provides all details on your trip; simply enter "Moosfluh" as your destination.
