Hi All,

This is really a great website for travel to Switzerland.

Me and my wife are travelling to Interlaken area from 29th Oct to 1st Nov.

1)we want guidance on where to stay ,as our preference is scenic beauty and Jungfrau top visit. We were initially interested in staying in Grindelwald but as per my research due to off season most of the hotels , restaurants close down before reopening later for winter season.

2.)Also it would be great if you can also guide us on our Itinerary which is as follows

Day 1: Reach late afternoon to Interlaken fron Zurich

Day 2: Visit Jungfrau top if weather is good or Explore Interlaken (Lakes etc.)

Day 3: Visit Jungfrau top if weather is good or Explore Interlaken (Lakes etc.)

Regards,

Rajandeep

Hi Rajan-

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry that you have found out the problems with low season travel.

However, your choice to leave two days for the Jungfrau is excellent planning; it increases your chances for good weather.

You note lake boats... I'm pretty sure that they will be running.

These links may be helpful in searching for services that are functioning at that time.-

Arno and Annika may be able to suggest accomodations. Probaly, Interlaken will have hotels, and A+A may know of hotels further south in or near the Lauterbrunnen Valley that are open.

Re. where to stay in Interlaken. We have stayed several times in a wonderful B+B there perhaps 10 min. from the railway station. It is Arnolds B+B, and I'm sure that you can find the address and email address on line. The Jungfrau can be seen next to the property. The accommodation is very good, the breakfasts nice, the owners are very friendly and by Swiss standards, the daily price is quite reasonable. Nicer than a hotel!

Hello Slowpoke,

Thanks so much for the guidance. The available hotels in Interlaken seems out of our budget , so we are looking for B&b in surrounding village like wilderswal(short travel to interlaken downtown) .

Please suggest if this looks ok ?

Hi Rajan,

Indeed it's low season, but I would not avoid Grindelwald because some hotels will be closed. Various hotels are open, so if you want to stay there you certainly can. Please see here:

If you prefer Wilderswil, if you don't mind a 15 minute walk to the rail station, you could consider Bären and Berghof Amaranth. Both are pretty affordable.

Hi Annika,

Thanks for your suggestion. Really helpful. We have found an apartment in Wilderswil through Airbnb which was pretty affordable . The only disadvantage is no free breakfast :).

Any suggestions for affordable and good quality Swiss meals in wilderswil or interlaken are welcome.

Regards,

Rajan
