Hello everyone,
Our member Kim created a document full of tips about her favorite Swiss town Wengen, and the Jungfrau region. The document is attached to this post, so you can download it if you’re interested.
Kim has put a lot of work in this. Posting a message here would be a great way to thank her for her efforts.

A great document by Kim! It’s so informative with so much detail. Really appreciate the effort.
Thanks a million!

This is an excellent document. We have been to Lauterbrunnen and the surrounding area several times and that entire area is our favorite. We stay in Lauterbrunnen because it is beautiful in the valley and also it is so easy to hop the train or lifts to start exploring. My husband and I take the gentle hikes and it is hard to describe the beauty of the area. Thank you so much for all the work you put into this document.

One observation: the half fare card trumps the Swiss card if the return transfer journey (into and out of the area where you are staying, e.g. from an airport) is less than CHF 158 (which is double the difference in price between the two cards).
Also bear in mind that you cannot use the Swiss card to cover the full fare on the scenic Golden Pass route (with its panorama coaches if you choose the right departure time) from Interlaken to Geneva, as it is not ‘the most direct route’. However this could be an option for travellers returning via Geneva, for example, effectively allowing them to extend their holiday by up to a day, by making the return journey a special extra event in itself. You could get half price on this route with the Swiss card I think, and forrfeit the 100% discount for a return ‘transfer’ journey at the end of your stay, but then it makes even more sense to buy the cheaper half price card instead.

I just had a chance to read Kim’s report cover to cover.
An extraordinary effort, and very well done.
The section on hikes is outstanding!
Something for every kind of hiker! Apparently, that section is how the report had its beginnings.
For my style of hiking, I’d combine it with a map in my pocket, but it is so good that you could go without.
ArnoModerator15471 posts26 April 2015 at 7:39:36 #840428Hi Slowpoke,
She sure did a very good job! I just included the latest version of her document to my initial post.
Removed userParticipant72625 posts26 April 2015 at 13:04:12 #840429Thanks Kim, your information is just what I was looking for. We are staying in Lauterbrunnen early September and after reading all the posts will make sure we increase our daily walks and have good footwear. We look forward to doing some of the walks.

My husband and I are planning a month long hiking trip to Switzerland and will be spending about a week in the Bernese Overland area. You have given us so much helpful information on so many areas that I had questioned. I appreciate your time and thoroughness and willingness to share your expertise with others who haven’t yet had a Switzerland experience.

luanyeeParticipant5 posts16 November 2015 at 7:14:47 #840432Hello,
I tried to download the 3 documents by kim but was unsuccessful.
ArnoModerator15471 posts16 November 2015 at 11:37:36 #840433Hi luanyee,
Sorry to hear that! What happened? Can you provide more details of what went wrong? I can download them without any problems. Normally you can simply right click the link and choose “Save as…” to download.
luanyeeParticipant5 posts16 November 2015 at 15:07:00 #840434Hello,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I tried downloading the pdf documents but there is an error message “sorry error in opening document”.
Could it be because I am a new member?
ArnoModerator15471 posts16 November 2015 at 16:41:05 #840435Hi luanyee,
My guess is that your computer tries to open the document with some kind of program that throws an error. It’s not because you’re a new member, and our website works fine too (I just tried again). It’s hard to assist with these kind of issues, but you could make screenshot and attach it to your post so I can hopefully see what’s going on.
luanyeeParticipant5 posts17 November 2015 at 6:31:56 #840436Hello Arno,
I am able to download all the 3 pdf documents. Thank you for your attention and responses. Have a good day.
Warm Regards from luanyee

I have made reservation for Hotel Silberhorn from 22nd to 25th December 2015 and wanted to find your info on Wengen.

Removed userParticipant72625 posts20 November 2015 at 17:26:26 #840439Dear Kim,
I had managed to download your three parts report at an earlier date.
This is a very comprehensive review.
I am there for Christmas and I imagine it is very different then.
Have you been there for hiking at that time ?
Thanks again,
Cookie
kim11Participant604 posts20 November 2015 at 17:57:22 #840440No, I have not. Some trails are open, weather-depending of course. The Tourist Office will be able to tell you what trails are open and direct you
