Hello Arno,

You have been very helpful. I have a few more questions before we leave on Sunday for Switzerland

(1) Lucerne – We are planning to spend the day there before going to Lauterbrunnen. We want to take a boat excursion and maybe have liunch in doing so. We also have a lot of other things planned (e.g. Walking tour of Lucerne, painted panels, lion sculpture and anything else you can recommend) Should we plan to take a boat trip to someplace on the lake and have lunch or have lunch on one of the boats? If so, which one? Please provide your suggestions and anything else we should be sure to see in Lucerne.

(2) Lauterbrunnen Restaurants – We will be staying with friends who have rented a chalet for a couple of months and we want to take them to dinner several times during our stay….where do you recommend?

(3) Zurich – any restaurant recommendations would be appreciated there knowing that we are squeezing in allot of touring in that city in the two days /two nights we have there.

(4)Your travel forum – how do I search by key word to learn responses from previous asked questions?

Hi Till,
1) With just one day in Lucerne I’d recommend to have lunch on the boat to use time efficiently. It’s a wonderful experience. Upgrade to 1st class if you can. You may want to combine this with a trip up to Mount Rigi, and spending the rest of the day in town.

4) There’s a search box in the top of the website. It searches the entire site, not just the forum. In fact it’s best to find answers elsewhere on our site first (check the main menu as well), and only visit the forum section for remaining questions or if looking for personal experiences, trip reports, etc.

I can’t comment on specific restaurants, sorry! While in Zurich, you may want to visit the Uetliberg for a view over town. There’s a restaurant there as well.

Thanks, Arno…which specific boat / company should seek out? It seems that there is a variety and some that take you from town to town. Is there one that would give a nice overview of the lake and views from the lake?

Hi Till,

There’s only one company. If you have time the boat ride all the way across the lake to Flüelen is very nice. If you prefer the combination with Mount Rigi you would go as far as Vitznau, which is beautiful as well.
