Hi, currently in Lucerne. We are checking out tomorrow at 11am. Have not taken boat trip yet and today was raining and so did not go to Mount rigi. So tomorrow morning trying to get a quick ride on the boat experience. Do you think we can go to either mout rigi or Pilatus and be back by 11am?? How long is the trip.? If rain, can we jus go just a boat trip? 1hr plus ? We have not tried the cogwheel train too. If the mountain is cloudy jus train ride worth? We have the swiss travel pass. Tomorrow checking out and going to Wengen. Thanks.. hope to hear from you soon.. devi

Hi Devi29,

I don’t think you can make it back to Lucerne before 11 AM, but you can check the timetable. I would not do it if the peaks are in the clouds, but actually it does not look that bad this morning. Perhaps you can take a boat or bus to Vitznau, take the train to Rigi Kulm, then the train down to Arth-Goldau and proceed from there to wherever to wanted to go today.

A boat trip should be doable. Again, check the timetable (link here) or walk over to the boat dock to ask about your options. One option might be a boat to Alpnachstad and back to Lucerne. Or the boat to Küssnacht am Rigi, then walk 400 m to the train station and take a train.

Hi Devi,

Yes, Wengen, you mentioned that; sorry for overlooking. You can even take the train to Wengen from Alpnachstad instead of taking the boat back to Lucerne. And, if you want more boat rides, get off the train in Brienz and take a boat to Interlaken from there. Then a train to Wengen.
