I am hoping to travel to Mt Titlis next November, but have found out that the Rotair will be closed for maintenance on the day I am travelling.

Is there another way to travel to the summit of Mt Titlis or will I only be able to travel as high as Trubsee.

    Thankyou

    Hi Jenni,

No, the cable car is the only way to get up to Titlis. So during the maintenance period you won’t be able to get there. There are alternatives with great views in the Lucerne region though, such as Pilatus and Rigi. Both of these rides are for free if you own a Swiss Travel Pass.

    Thank you Annika.

That is disappointing. I will look into the other mountains you mentioned. I am only planning on visiting Bern, Zurich, Lucerne and one mountain so I don’t think the Swiss Rail Pass is good value for me. I will probably just buy point-to-point tickets.

    Thanks, Jenni

    Hi Jenni,

Be sure to do the math before you decide. If a pass is not worth it, you can indeed buy point to point tickets, and consider booking a tour to the mountain of choice. Tours are sometimes cheaper than regular tickets. You’ll find tours on the pages Annika linked to.
