Our auto-travelling group of four will be: 1.) taking the train to Zermatt from Tasch and back; 2.) the car-train from Goppenstein to Kandersteg; and 3.) the train from Interlaken to Wengen and back after three days of visiting Murren, the Jungfrau and Grindelwald by train (and cable car). Is a Swiss Rail Pass recommended? Is it a big cost saving? And other tips? Thank you!!!!!

I’ll strengthen what Rockoyster said, probably the Swiss Half Fare Card will be the best solution for you if you want to travel by car too. In addition to that, you’ll find a useful guide with a calculation spreadsheet, which helps you to choose your rail pass in 5 steps at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass. The downloadable spreadsheet also includes links to the “Where it’s valid” page for all available passes, be sure to study it carefully. If you want to double check, just do the math with the spreadsheet, but I also suggest the Swiss Half Fare Card (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard) instead of the Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass) in this case.
