    Hello,

In using SBB to plan train times I realized I don’t have any labeled PA for my trip from Wengen to Montreux. I have added via Zweissmen and it adds an hour to the trip. Staying in Wengen for a week including trips to Thun and Brienze, is it worth the “detour” to go on the PA train (Golden Pass section 3)? Or, is the fastest route just fine?

Looking at trip from Lucerne to Wengen, we’ll be on a PA coach for the Golden Pass section 1.

“The service was very fast to provide the itinerary and it gave things to do that I had not otherwise found. Overall the service and itinerary were very impressive.”

In July you should see MOB PANORAMIC or MOB BELL EPOQUE.

Example attached using old style timetable plus expanded new-style timetable.

Don’t miss the Golden Pass to Montreux if you have the time.

Ok I see that! But I think it states does not run Aug 1st, so maybe out of luck?

Also, Lucerne to wengen….doesn’t say mob?

Lucerne – Interlaken Express is part of Golden Pass line but not run by MOB. Wengen to Zweisimmen not MOB either.

You are right about 1 August but do you have to travel to Montreux on that day? One of the challenges of answering questions out of context of overall itinerary.

    This shows it running 1 August reservations.mob.ch/re servation/reservation/ reservation/reservatio n/reservation/reservat ion/reservation/reserv ation/reservation/rese rvation/f?p=151:1:24388637259625 97::NO:::

    1 August is National Day – http://www.officeholidays.com /countries/switzerland /national_day.php

I think on reflection “ Also 1 August “ means it runs even though it is a public holiday.

I would get a reservation at that time of year. Peak tourist season. You probably can’t make reservation more than 90 days out from date of travel.

I hope my interpretation of “runs daily, not on public holidays; not 19. Mar until 1. Jun 2018; also 1. Aug” is correct. I think it means it is running 1 August but I’m no expert on Swiss punctuation translated to English. The German “fährt täglich, nicht an allg. Feiertag; nicht 19. Mär bis 1. Jun 2018; auch 1. Aug” reads exactly the same.

Breaking it down I read it as “runs daily, not on public holidays; also 1. Aug”.

Chantal, Lucas, Arno, Alpenrose . . . . what do you say?

I agree with your translation – it’s running on 1 August. So your German is not so rusty after all 😉

Having said that, I am not at all clear on what journey autumnz is planning to do on that day.

    Hi Alpenrose,

Thanks for that but I think my German is shot. The translation was courtesy of Google. 🤓

The journey at issue is the Zweissimen to Montreux leg of the MOB Golden Pass on 1 August.

    OK, I’m clear now 🙂

If particular connections come up in a timetable search for 1 August (or any specific day), you can be assured they are in fact running on that day.

The footnote in the timetable about what other days it runs or doesn’t run is just for completeness I suppose, and to alert people who haven’t settled on a particular date for travel, but are just doing a general enquiry to help consider their options.

Oh Alpenrose, “If particular connections come up in a timetable search for 1 August (or any specific day), you can be assured they are in fact running on that day” is so obvious when you put it like that! 😖
