Hi Bch mom22 and welcome to MySwissAlps!

The Alps is a pretty big area. You’ll need to look through the list of notable mountains in Switzerland and choose which looks most appealing to you: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/naturalsites/ mountains

The mountains that are easiest to reach from Zurich (Zurich is not close to the Alps) would be the ones around the town of Lucerne noted here: http://www.myswissalps.com/lu cerne/activities

You can use the Swiss railways timetable to see how long it will take you to get there: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable

You can enter “Zurich” to “mountain name” and it will give you the quickest connections from Zurich main station.

The timetable also gives you the ticket cost for the trip (one-way) if you don’t have a rail pass. The price listed first is the Swiss Half Fare Card price (so double it for the regular fare price).

Would Mount Rigi be an option for you Bch mom22? It’s not too far from Zurich, with good views.
