A family of two adults and one boy turning 16 this July would like to ask the following question:

1. Is the Glacier Express valid in the Swiss Travel Pass (intend to make a four day rail pass)?

2. Can we take the famous rail journey from St. Mortiz to Zermatt rather than Zermatt to St. Mortiz?

3. For reservations what do we need to do in the event that we purchase the Swiss Travel Pass from Zurich? Does it cost extra to reserve and where can we do the seat reservation from?

4. Can the boy of 15 years turning 16 in the next month be eligible for the Swiss Family card with us?

Thank you so much.....traveling in the next week to Lovely Switzerland.

Hello ProjectHope2, thanks for posting here!

1. Yes, the Glacier Express is included. Please see the map for what's included in the pass.

2. Sure, the direction of travel is not relevant. All routes on the map are included.

3. You can best buy the Swiss Travel Pass online. That's allows you to print it at home so you save time at Zurich airport. You can go straight to your train instead of waiting for a ticket office. In your case you can get the pass through www.raileurope-world.com/pass/swiss-travel-pass-82. They will e-mail the pass within 1-2 business days.

The seat reservation for the Glacier Express is a separate purchase. It can be obtained via the link under "More on other websites" on myswissalps.com/ glacierexpress/ tickets. Select "others" in the "abo" box.

I'd recommend to arrange for the pass and reservations as soon as possible since your travel date is very close.

4. As long as he's 15 on the first day of the Swiss Travel Pass he can still travel for free with the Swiss Family Card.

Have a good time in Switzerland!
