    HI,

Our group of 8 have rented a villa out to spend a week in Grindelwald . We love hiking and anything outdoor..biking etc.. I am making plans for our week there but want to see what we can do on days that are too rainy to hike. Any recommendations would be great. After we leave Grindelwald we will be in Lucerne for a couple nights and Zurich for a night(probably head to Konstanz to take a Rhine river cruise to Stein am Rhein and Schaffhausen that day before flying back to the US.

    Hi GoGiantsFan,

I hope you will be blessed with a sunny weather throughout your week-long stay in Grindewald.

But in case it rains, there are some options mentioned on our Grindelwald page: http://www.myswissalps.com/grindelwald.

    My personal recommendations:

    1. Sportzentrum (sport centre) – there’s an ice rink, indoor rock climbing and adventure rope park to keep you busy

    2. Indoor swimming pool and sauna – also available within the sport centre vicinity

    3. Grindelwald museum

    4. A visit to the Alpine cheese dairy in Grindelwald

For more information, you can download this electronic brochure: bro.jrtag.ch/Gri/so_guide/de_en/mobile/index.html#p=1

Alternatively, you can take the bus or train and visit the surrounding areas which offer plenty of rainy-day options too. There are lots of day trips you can plan from Grindelwald and Interlaken. Please use the timetable to plan your journey: http://www.myswissalps.com/timetable.

Thanks for the information . I will look into that all. Would a day trip to Bern be worth going ?

    Hi GoGiantsFan,

Travelling from Grindelwald to Bern will take you about 1 hr and 40 min by train. It is certainly doable as a day trip. For sightseeing options in Bern, this link will be useful: http://www.myswissalps.com/bern/activities

Thanks Anna. Going to make a list and hopefully don’t need it. I know the train ride to Zermatt is much longer but it seems the weather could be different there and could make a day trip to there ??

    Hi GoGiantsFan,

If you set out early in the morning, I think a day trip to Zermatt is certainly possible. I have made a few day trips to Zermatt myself all the way from Zurich.

Information about what to do in Zermatt here: http://www.myswissalps.com/zermatt

    Regards,

    Anna
