Hi All

Can anybody who has been advice the best way to see most of beautiful sights in Switzerland on a 4 day visit with Basel being the base station ? OR if I make Zurich as a base station would that be better. ?

What scenic journeys can i make in 3 days as a day return trip ?

Thanks

Billa Sood

Hi Billa Sood

In general terms, Luzern is a substantially better base station to experience the beauty of Switzerland than is Zürich or Basel.

Some of the best bases for scenic journeys would be Interlaken or Luzern, with Zermatt/Brig/Chur/St. Moritz good places to access the Glacier Express.

Neither Basel nor Zürich are close to the mountainous regions which are the most scenic. However, with careful planning and long days, you may be able to access some of the routes accessible from Luzern. Luzern is about 45 minutes from Zürich or about 1 hour from Basel.

You might check out the route - Basel - Luzern - Interlaken (via Meringen) - Montreux (via Zweisimmen) - Basel. I'm guessing that it might fit into a very long day. There are very scenic stretches.
