    Hello everyone,

For your information: the Schynige Platte railway is closed for the winter and does not operate until May 27, 2017. The Swiss timetable currently does show trains in winter on this route, which is incorrect. The trains do not operate.

My wife and I were there in 2016 and the railway up to Schynige Platte did not open on the date published online and given by the Spiez information office: Sat 28 May 16. In fact it was due to open Sat 04 June after we returned to U.K. Maybe it was weather related, but no explanation was given at the station at the foot of the railway.

    Hi Plodso,

Indeed they can postpone the opening or even skip a day of operation mid-season if that’s necessary because of the weather, or because of the amount of snow still left on the mountain.

Thanks for your feedback and welcome to MySwissAlps!
