    Hello

we are driving today from Lugano to Lauterbrunnen going A2 to 19 to 6..

wondering if it’s better to go through the tunnel or the Gotthard Pass? And since the rental car doesn’t have gps I’m navigating the “old” way by looking at it ahead of time & reading signs.. so is it clearly marked on how to get to either the pass or tunnel?

    Thanks!

If “better” = “faster” then Tunnel

If “better” = “landscape” then Pass

There could be other criteria, such as claustrophobia, rest stops, photography, driving comfort, driving pleasure, etc.

The tunnel is on an Autobahn/autostrada, road signs on green background; the pass is on a Kantonstrasse/strada cantonale, road signs on blue background.

For public transport, there are two railway lines through different tunnels, and the postal bus through the pass road.

    Enjoy your trip!

Thank you so much! And since we are on the road, can anyone confirm that we cannot go 19 to 6 today. According to google maps it looks as if it’s closed that way?

    < we cannot go 19 to 6 today >

Not sure I understand what you mean… As far as I know, the Gotthard pass road is open to all vehicles right now.
