I was planning to drop luggage off at Zermatt Bahnhof on a Monday morning and hoping to pick it up at Spiez later that day. However, reading the SBB information it states that luggage can be collected two days later, ie on Wednesday. Is this correct? Have I misunderstood it? Surely the efficient Swiss Railway wouldn’t take this long to deliver it?

Maybe a locker could solve your problem? There are plenty of lockers at the station in Zermatt.
