Planning a trip for January 2015 with the family (2 adults & 2 children under 16) and need some clarification on how the transfers work with the Swiss Card. We will be entering Switzerland through Geneva Airport and will take a rail transfer into the city. After a few days we will then travel from Geneva to Zermatt to ski for a week and travelling across to Chur or St Moritz on the Glacier Express.

Our intention is to exit Switzerland from Chur or St Moritz on the Bernina Express to Tirano. Can this be classified as the transfer included in the Swiss Card or will we be required to pay 50% of the fare on the Bernina Express?

    Thank you!

    Hi syfo98,

The free transfers included in the Swiss Card can be used to travel from Geneva to Zermatt, and from Chur or St. Moritz to Tirano, either with the Bernina Express or regular trains. In case of the Bernina Express you need to arrange for seat reservations. You will get a 50% discount on the Glacier Express tickets, and you also need seat reservation for that train. See here for what’s included in the Swiss Card, and here for prices.

Traveling from the airport to Geneva city center is free with an Unireso ticket. Traveling in the city is free as well if you book an hotel in Geneva.

Hotel suggestions for the various towns are listed here.
