1. do I need a railpass in order to buy the haf card?
2. can this half card be bought at any point of entry to Switzerland- filling stations, rail station or where?
3. Is half card good on car transports through tunnels etc like the Veraina?

Hello alpenrose,

1. No, you don't need any other pass.
2. Purchase options are listed at the Swiss Half Fare Card page. You can get it online or at rail stations.
3. It is only valid for passenger trains. However, some car trains (e.g. the Oberalppass) have separate fees for the car and the passengers (mostly when passengers don't stay seated in their car, but sit in regular coaches instead). In such cases, you will get a discount on the passenger tickets.
