Dear, just returned from Switzerland and i must say every tourist should go for 1 month half fare card. benefits as below.

    1. You get free family card. so kids go free

    2. over and above benefit from 3, 4 x days card is all fare are half, including the tickets at tourist spot which you any way have to buy even if you bought swiss full day pass. with full day pass you pay full ticket of these tourist destination, but with half fare card, you not on get half price for all swiss travel, you get half entry ticket to these places and your kids go free.

    3. Percentage discount: it is something when you download app and see a small % sign on top left corner when searching a journey. it is ranging from 10 to 70% and you will only be benifited when you have half fare card and not with pass as pass don’t require tickets to be purchased.

    4. No matter any where you go, half fare card works very well, where as full day pass or 3, 4, x days pass only works on trains and not on Gondola, sight seeing boat, cog wheel, cable car etc.

    5. if you are really lucky, you will get bus pass free so this make more sense compared to 3,4, x days pass which is very very expensive and do not cover every ride.

    Hi Jinihub, welcome to MySwissAlps

    Thanks for the review. 🙂

    A couple of quick notes

    1. Note, only kids under 16 go free http://www.myswissalps.com/sw issfamilycard
    2. The Swiss Travel Pass (I think that is what you mean by Swiss full day pass) does offer discounts to many tourist destinations (generally 25% to 50% off) http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity
      1. & you also get the Swiss Family Card with it as well so kids are free too.
    3. Correct, you don’t get to buy tickets at a discount – but that usually means they are free for Swiss Travel Pass users. 🙂 I’ll take free over discounted!
    4. Swiss Travel Passes get you discounts on most gondolas/cable cars (fully covers some) and gets you free travel on most boat trips
    5. I’m not sure what you mean by getting a bus pass free if you are lucky?

Definitely the Swiss Half Fare Card (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard) is a great option for many people, but for a lot of others, the Swiss Travel Pass can be the cheaper option.

When choosing the best rail pass for yourself, always do the math on your specific itinerary and do the math to be sure you pick the best pass for your trip to Switzerland. http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

I hope you had a good trip while in Switzerland. It sounds like you enjoyed your travels on the Swiss transportation network!
