Dear Friends

My wife , me and our daughter ( 1 year 10 months ) are from India and looking forward to a trip to Paris , Switzerland and Vienna this June / July . We will be travelling in to Montreux from Paris and then proceed to Luzern . Our basic itenary outline is as following -

Paris - 4 N

Montreux - 4 N

Luzern - 5 N

Vienna - 5 N

We would like to cover the main locations , including few cable cars rides , scenic trains etc . We need your advise on

Train Communication -

Do we need to buy Half Fare Card or Swiss Pass 8 days ? Will any of these be of much help ?

The TGV Lyria from Paris has a direct to Lausanne from where it connects to a local train to Montreux . Since we have an infant and few luggages , if we miss the local train , do we need to buy. Tickets again ?

We are planning Grindelwald from Luzern daytrip and so with Zermatt from Montreux . Are these doable with an infant ?

Thanks so much in advance :)

Hello Kingshuk and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

Nice to hear you're coming to Switzerland with your family. First of all good news, your little one won't pay anything on any of the Swiss transportation!

To find out which rail pass suits you best you need quite a detailed itinerary. Check details of the two mentioned passes below and in the third link find helpful information about "how to choose your railpass" isstravelpass
- isshalffarecard
- ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass

The ticket you will need when arriving to and departing from Switzerland will depend on the pass you get.
- aintickets/france
- aintickets/austria

To find out more about your destinations type them into the search bar of this page and to calculate travelling times of your itinerary (once set), use our timetable. Make sure you read how it works to fully profit from it.
