Hello Rich and Welcome to MySwissAlps,

What time of year are you travelling?

Do you have a particular reason to swap from Lauterbrunnen to Gimmelwald to Lauterbrunnen. They are really quite close. Also Gimmelwald is really really tiny (see this thread http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/traveling-with-3-children for some observations on Gimmelwald).

You might consider just having one base in the Jungfrau Region and Wengen would be my recommendation.

Use the Swiss Train Timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) to plan your travel including to Italy. Have a look at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/italy.

You can buy the Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass) on-line and print at home. Very convenient.

Before you decide on a Swiss Travel Pass you might want to read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass).

    End of May Rockoyster 🙂

I would recommend to stay in Lauterbrunnen all the time. Or in Gimmelwald if that suits you better. It is really tiny though, with no facilities other than the cableway to get there and glorious nature. It will probably be very quiet at that time of year. Switching accommodations takes away sightseeing/hiking time.
