I am trying to find the following timings and when I put the start and end stations the panorama trains dont show up in the timetable:

    1. Bernina Express on Aug 31, 2018 from St. Moritz to Lugano

    2. Gotthard Panoramic on Sept 1st, 2018 from Lugano to Lucerne

How do I find above timings and can you suggest alternative train/bus combinations that are scenic but take less time?

Break the Bernina Express search into St Moritz to Tirano an look for BEX then Tirano to Lugano Bus. Or go here http://www.rhb.ch/en/panorami c-trains/bernina-express#info.

Gotthard Panorama departs Lugano 9:23. Look for train denoted EXT.

Reservations required for all the above.

    Hi Nita,

You can make reservations on those trains here:
    https://www.myswissalp s.com/gotthardpanorama express
    https://www.myswissalp s.com/berninaexpress/p ackages

You can save some time, making the same trip but on regional trains as well (and no reservations needed).
The bus from Tirano to Lugano is your only option on that route though otherwise you train via Milan (and takes a little more time).

    Hello Nita,

Remember that the timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) gives you the fastest way from A to B by default. That’s often not the panoramic route. If you go to Lucas’s links you’ll find all details to plan your trip, including tips about finding the schedules in the timetable, links like the one Rockoyster posted, alternative trains, etc. Read all the tabs on those pages, especially the Route tab.

If you want to see the scenery you’d either take the panoramic train or a local train on the same route, both are equally fast in most cases. There is no faster way, unless you take another route. Lugano to Lucerne can be as quick as two hours, but then you spend the best part in tunnels, so no scenery.
