I see there is construction work symbol when I look to find a train from Bern to Basel or Zurich to Basel. Does it mean that there is no longer train due to construction work?

Because of engineering maintenance work in the Adler tunnel between Basel and Olten, end May to end July 2022, there are fewer trains running and timings are slightly modified to and from Basel, but there are still plenty of trains (5 per hour) because the Adler tunnel is a new line that added extra capacity to the existing line, which remains open.

note to moderators: I posted about this in May but the thread is closed – perhaps it could be reopened?

Hi Ildiko, I was hoping to travel tomorrow June 30 from interlaken to Bern and then Basel and end up in Lucerne. If I will be spending too much time in Bern I was thinking of traveling to Basel from Zurich on July 4th and come back on the same day.

    Thank you

Hi Liblum, I’ve checked the timetable.

You can travel between Bern and Basel and Basel – Zurich. Between Muttenz and Liestal, construction work is in progress. This can occur some delays but I wouldn’t expect much longer travel times.

For more details about the background of the construction please visit 1960man’s link: http://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/no-basel-zurich-tgv-may-july-2022.

I hope you’ll have a great day tomorrow,

    Ildiko
