Train from airport to Grindelwald

I wonder if anyone can help me? I'm considering a holiday to Grindelwald with my 15 yr old son this August but don't know how hard or easy it is to get rail connections into Grindelwald after landing at the airport. I'm not sure what airport I will be flying into yet, depends on the cost of flights from England. Do I need to purchase any rail passes and if so what type? We are planning on doing some local walks/hikes in the Grindelwald area. Thanks for any assistance you can give.

You can reach Grindelwald from any airport. Basel airport doesn't have a train station but a short bus ride get you to the station in Basel. Bern is the closest but there are not many flights landing there. Here's more about the airports: myswissalps.com/ airports.
