We want to drive from Grindelwald in September to Urnasch to see the cow parade on Sept 14th. Do you advise we stay there overnight or can we see the parade /experience the day and come back to Grindelwald all in one day.

Can be done in a day.

The journey is 3 hours and it would be scenic. I’ve driven most of the roads that you would take and there’s plenty of nice countryside and sections of winding roads that will be interesting

As stated the journey from Grindelwald to Urnaesch can be done in one day, depending on how much driving is ok for you.

You can drive via Lucerne or via Lucerne and Zurich, so you can also consider spending a night there, if this is of any interest for you.
