Please ignore this – I looked at the wrong STC page and asked a stupid question in consequence!

    Hi chuckh40,

Thanks for you post! You’re comparing two different passes, so that explains the difference. The Swiss Travel Pass includes consecutive days: myswissalps.com/ swisstravelpass. The Swiss Travel Pass Flex offers flexibility, so you can use the days however you like within a month: myswissalps.com/ swisstravelpassflex.

In the UK, you can purchase these passes through http://www.swisstravelsystem. co.uk/en/node/66 and http://www.swisstravelsystem. co.uk/en/node/95.

By the way, the Swiss Transfer Ticket does allow different routes: myswissalps.com/ swisstransferticket/ howtouse. But this ticket only pays off if your inbound and outbound trip are long and thus expensive if done by regular tickets.

Your last assumption is not correct: you can buy tickets online in any case. But I would not recommend fixed date tickets as you’ll loose the flexibility of changing your plans, e.g. if the weather forces you do to so. With a Swiss Travel Pass or Swiss Travel Pass Flex, you do not need tickets at all, except for discounted cable cars and cogwheel trains.

    I hope this was useful!

Thanks for your prompt response- I had realised I’d got the passes confused but too late to stop you replying!

However, your response was useful given the answers to my subsidiary questions – thanks!.
