Hi, can someone advise if we go up to Schilthorn with Swiss Travel Pass what is the discount we can get? We will be there on Dec 24 or 25. Notice Tariff Cableway Schilthorn Ltd latest price list that we need to pay around CHF82.60 returned ticket even with Swiss Pass. We thought is free with the Swiss Pass. Kindly advise. Thank you

    Hi Chuteck,

You must have been looking at the 2019 prices. In 2018 the trip is free with the Swiss Travel Pass. You can check out what is included fully or partially on the Swiss Travel Pass for 2018 here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity

Do note the Swiss Pass is a different product than the Swiss Travel Pass.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Their 2019 Fare is effective from 9/12/2018 – 14/12/2019. I found this fare list from schilthorn.ch. Are they the cable car operator at Schilthorn? Kindly advise.

A little confusing indeed! The 2018 Swiss Travel Pass would be valid until the end of December and hence the trip to Schilthorn should be free until Dec.31.

However, that fare sheet does confuse things. The reason Dec. 9 is stated is due to the train schedule being set each year for Dec. 9 2018 – Dec. 8 2019. So I assume that is why those dates appear. I’ll see what I can find out.

    It is like I thought:

It’s free up to Dec 31 with the Swiss Travel Pass. Dec 9 is the timetable and the general tariff date change only.

Hi Lucas, thank you for your confirmation. By the way, do we need to make advance booking for the cableway? Believe this is not necessary.

No,reservations aren’t possible on cable cars (and many trains). Schilthorn was an exception this summer but that wasn’t extended to the ski season.

You can with Jungfraujoch (http://www.myswissalps.com/ju ngfraujoch/packages) but it is only really needed in peak summer months.

Hi Lucas, I received email from Info Schilthorn informed that the maintenant is until Dec 8, 2018. Onwards (from Dec 9), they will charge CHF41.30 return on those with Swiss Pass. Is it true? The one who replied me was a Trainee. Are you able to reconfirm this?

    Hey Chuteck,

All my information and a reply from Schilthorn the other day says it should be free until Dec.31…They are closed for maintenance until the 8th as you say.

I’d reply back and ask to re-confirm these pricing details though with a manager as the Swiss Travel Pass does show it should be free for all of 2018. I’d like to think everyone there was on the same page there but technically all it takes is the person in the ticket booth at the bottom of the mountain (manager or trainee or whomever) to either accept the STP or say not – unfortunately!

The Switzerland Travel Center is Swiss Railways official tourist branch and their 2018 PDF maps show free travel to Schilthorn and the 2019 maps show 50% off. https://shop.switzerla ndtravelcentre.com/#/e n/product/swissPass (click the link “More on validity” for the 2 PDF maps).

Do let us know what they say! I’d be quite surprised if they decide to change the pricing as of Dec.9)

Hi Lucas, thank you for your confirmation. Yes, they have sent me another email after that to confirm that is free for 2018 even after Dec 8. Guess they were also confuse about the STP offer. Thank you again

    Hi Chuteck,

In case you had not seen it yet: Schilthorn remains free in 2019 too for Swiss Travel Pass holders.
