Hello,

I am planning of May first week travel to Mt Pilatus and I just found one leg to Mt Pilatus of cog wheel will not be operation until 18th May 2019 but leg from Kreins will be operational. IS this correct?

Also I noticed Mt Pilatus is not free but discounted with Swiss Travel pass and there advance booking available for undiscounted trip to Mt Pilatus from Kreins station. IS this correct too?

This leads to my last question as in : Should I purchase these tickets in advance from SBB shope or any other site for undiscounted trip?

Hello Harjeet,

The cog wheel railway Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm normally commences operation mid May but this is dependant on conditions. It is hard to predict a more accurate date.

You don’t need to book in advance. In fact I would only consider going to Pilatus if the weather is favourable. It would be no fun on a very cloudy day or if it is raining. Yes the cable way is discounted 50% with the STP – see http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass/validity.

As Rockoyster says you don’t need to make a reservation and buy an undiscounted ticket in advance.
You can buy a discounted ticket (if you have a Swiss Travel Pass) upon arrival, once you see the weather is fine:
